Zna Portlock Houston, Esq.


Zna Houston, 52, of Los Angeles has been reappointed to the California African American Museum Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Houston has been a senior assistant city attorney serving as special counsel for personnel standards and employee engagement in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office since 1994. Houston was director of membership services for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses from 1992 to 1994. She was an attorney in private practice and counsel for Fox Inc. from 1989 to 1992. Houston was an associate at Littler Mendelson P.C. from 1987 to 1989 and a law clerk at the Writers Guild of America from 1986 to 1987. She is a member of the Pepperdine University School of Law Board of Visitors, past chair of the 9th Council District Community Advisory Committee and a past chair of small business for the 47th California State Assembly District Community Cabinet. Houston is a member of the John M. Langston Bar Association, Beverly Hills West California Chapter of the Links Inc., the Los Angeles Chapter of Jack and Jill of America and the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Houston is a Democrat.
